Blessed are those who allow themselves to be carried away by the stories of the ancient walls, frescoes and arches, by the lives of those who came before us, by its meaning and theirs. It is the spirit of a place steeped in history that inspires us and invites us to reflect and discover. And when all this is accompanied by music, it also creates the gateway through which joy enters.

The Black Church is an emblematic monument for Brasov, and even more so for Romania. To reach the Black Church is to be introduced to the very symbol of the medieval city of Brasov. Here you will find different types of tours, longer or shorter, adapted to different types of audiences (families, companies, children, people with special needs), thematic tours (presentation of the architecture, collection of Ottoman carpets, confession and faith, collection of historical vestments, presentation of the organ), backstage tours (presentation of different restoration and conservation projects), as well as a meeting with what we call the “Professional Guest” – a specialist from a field other than art or history, who will talk about different perspectives of the Black Church.

The organ concerts are well known to music lovers and connoisseurs, and are a discovery for those who come here for the first time, as well as a long-awaited moment for those who have tasted it at least once and come back for it.

Good news: the 2023 concert season at the Black Church is just around the corner.

What could be better than listening to the music of great composers in a unique architectural monument? Concerts in the Black Church are an unforgettable experience. This year we offer organ recitals as part of the ORGAN NIGHTS summer season, as well as exceptional concerts with choirs and soloists from home and abroad.

Organ Concerts – 71st edition

The Organ Nights concerts in the Black Church will start on 27 May and end on 7 October. The summer organ season has enjoyed an unbroken tradition since 1953. Since then more than 4000 organ concerts have been held in the Black Church.

This year the concerts will take place on Saturdays, starting at 6pm, and will last approximately 60 minutes. In the repertoire of the 20 concerts we will find composers from all eras – a repertoire tailored to the possibilities offered by the 4 instruments of the Black Church.

These concerts are an integral part of INSPIRATIO by History & Music, a concept launched by the Black Church in 2020, whose mission is to protect and enhance the heritage of this monument. By participating, the public contributes to the preservation of the valuable heritage, including the restoration and conservation of special objects, the repair, tuning and maintenance of organs, and the expansion of cultural and historical offerings for the general public.

Tickets for organ concerts during the summer season cost 25 lei, children under 18 are free. Tickets for special concerts cost between 30 and 50 lei, with a discount for children for 30 lei tickets.

Tickets for exceptional concerts go on sale 10 days before the event, while tickets for ORGAN NIGHTS Festival concerts go on sale from the Monday of the week of the concert at the INSPIRATIO Gift Studio Shop box office and online at
